Kids are the sweetest things

13 11 2009

Pediatrics… Always thought it was gonna be a hard posting and yes I was right. But the saving grace is the children themselves …. There is so much we can learn from these unwell children. And be inspired. And be grateful about.

Most importantly, health is never to be taken for granted.

On a lighter note.. Me and Deborah on day one – ESP with the colour scheme…unplanned !

Hello!!

Birthdays!

2 04 2009

Well since ive been told to update my blog for the love of god, unquote. I shall post something to share all the wonderful birthday happenings the last month.

Yi Ling’s @ in the villa @ amara

OMG it was so fun, Mariam appeared halfway and started her own talkshow in the pool. It was also interesting to note that we checked in to the villa right after the Malaysian PM checked out of the same one. ha. No one was as crazy as Hadri the cheerleader…. hands down. Now i can’t wait for zul’s bday already…as in the HUGE one that deserves more planning coming in 2 weeks.
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Min’s birthday @ NewAsiaBar

And then it was Min’s birthday at her place and then there was a bus to take us to NewAsia for part 2. Pretty cool! Nothing beats the top of the world view from NewAsia.

At her place…and yes there was a pole dancer for halftime entertainment…
PhotobucketPhotobucket

on the bus!…. haha

PhotobucketPhotobucket

finally there…. :)

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

bumped into sarah (mastaN!!)….who called me from downstairs coz she saw me.

Zul’s Chillout Bday countdown @ Shelford chill crib aka Mariam’s place

with someone deciding to storm Mariam’s closet just before Andrea dropped by….

and my fav pic from the countdown day…..!

… and I say again…can’t wait for his big one in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!

to sum up 2008…

27 02 2009

Looks like im going to be on a crazy post exam blogging frenzy.

For some reason, towards the end of 2008 time just flew past and blogging was seriously the last thing on my mind.

last quarter of 2008 marks real highs and real lows, meeting new people so I guess it wouldn’t be doing myself justice if I didn’t mention some lovely happenings.

Z O 2008 @ siloso

Pretty fireworks from the hotel room…

Emergency Medicine posting at SGH was about the BEST posting i’ve had yet….

AmbulanceCPR

ambulance run..and deborah on her CPR test haha…

It really did make us consider being emergency physicians….it’s never too boring!

Then there was the new years eve…..

n502745451_1876321_1606jpgn502745451_1876327_3262jpg

where it was just really nice food in a really nice place to usher in 2009…

oh yes and who can forget all the christmas happenings….. first with the RI boys..

n502745451_1825767_7677jpgn502745451_1825773_9598jpg

and the countdown to it…with a back to school theme…

n502745451_1816443_8365jpgn502745451_1816449_259jpg

..and the list of memories goes on and on…. but most of all i’d remember the most invaluable lessons that some significant people have taught me.

medicine is art and science. comment.

i am a literary critic at the core…
but basically… i would have to delve into the definitions of “art” and “science”
fundamentally…. they both point at methodologies and cognitive frameworks
“science” refers to the use of deterministic methods to arrive at conclusive findings
“art” refers to the a more humanistic/nebulous methodology that has to do with “feel” rather than deterministic methodologies
seemingly polemical… but in fact… creates an interesting ambivalent synergy
do i believe it to be so?!
i suppose… to a certain extent
the core of medicine is SCIENTIFIC
the structure and framework of irrefutable fact
but the practice of it is an ART
cos it requires a less tangible means to execute this knowledge

This came out after I tried very hard to hypothesise on a
possible reason to why some of us might experience deja vu even
though it is taken to be a common symptom preceding a seizure.

Farewell

29 09 2008
It’s a farewell for Tim who’s off to Cambridge in pursuit of a world class education and Wynson’s birthday and it was a great weekend indeed. It’s been week after week of studying through the weekends just to feel accomplished and hit objectives for this posting but this weekend I decided why not take a ‘mid posting’ self proclaimed break.

Going to miss you dearly Tim (or more affectionately known as Yiggy like Twiggy). Please come back. Oh yes, you cannot entertain the possibility of not coming back :) But yes, on a more serious note your move to the UK to pursue your wonderful degree reminds us of how far we’ve moved on since the old days of school in uniform.

Bye bye

All the lovely people….to grace the occasion. Check out the cake…

Cake

The blonde barbie is Tim, because he’s heading to the UK and going to be ‘ang mo’ – Wynson (happy birthday to you btw!)

This weekend also saw the opportunity to catch up with all of my tightest pals dating back to the old RJ days including Smriti whos always hard to catch like Carmen Sandiego. It was almost surreal having her and all of us around at the same time. We have been through some of the best times together I would ever remember. Here’s to years and years of friendship ahead…

Raffles Unite

This is such a random observation but everyone’s looking grown up and really good. Especially Hadri with the recent cosmetic changes :) Smriti’s almost done with law school, can’t believe it! Zul’s starting soon. Omg. Ok you can never have too many lawyer friends. Speaking of which, Sarah (yes sarah nadia mastan marican), if ure reading this, yes I miss your presence too ever since you joined law school. In the midst of nostalgia..some really old pics of us….(look how young we were)

Old school

We should go out soon and party like we did coz if we don’t, I’m not gonna recognise you anymore the next time we meet unless u invest in Botox (which i’m pretty sure you will). Or perhaps u should try to swing by my place when im actually at home ! :)

Berns!

Bernard  (and Junsheng coz they were inseperable that night) – We go back to the days of arguing over the triple jump pit during track and field championships in RI over who can regurgitate more Britney trivia in her pseudo virginal days, and who can get more A1s in O level prelims. Boy did we keep each other motivated. Thanks for all the wonderful random dinners on weekday nights and great weekends we have shared. So glad were in the same school now and we could meet up as often as we do.

..yes clearly taken over by nostalgia and reflection. Just wanna say thank you y’all.

to a friend

23 09 2008

Dear Zhups,

Looks like if i was REALLY at the other side of the campus, i would have received your greeting from the other ‘creative’ side of the campus. Though I disagree my side of the campus near the hospital is any less creative perhaps just so in a different aspect. I mean it would be kinda weird to think of a new way to operate on a patient every day that would be freaky.

Sadly, im not physically in NUS 99% of the time i go to school, thus is medical school.

And never are gone the days when we snap to Mariah and scream Wind it Up and laughed and cried (??!) together. Well at least theyre not burnt to nothingness (like melamine contained China dairy goods today at the incinerator). I guess I gotta put them on hold for a moment to focus on very important things at hand. Doing well for this posting not only means i am closer to my degree, but I have a totally freed up elective semester in year 4 so that I can do some medical school in NYC.

Good times ahead! I will see u soon.

your friend and channel by which your blog is getting traffic,

Mid – Medicine posting reflections

Its halfway through this crazy medicine posting at TTSH. Though alot of people said that we really couldn’t have gotten much done in hospital studying for a major pathology exam and trying to see as many patients as possible, I thought i made the best out of the first few weeks at least. Well at least I can say that i have been having tremendous fun with my clinical group, whether its making funny faces at each other during tutorial behind the tutor or having meals out or visiting patient homes for community medicine projects. Its always nice amidst the stress of studying to no end to have people you could just unwind in therapeutic nonsense with.

CG

clockwise. 1. Samantha, the lovely whom without, all the male docs would be less perky. 2. Ian, always asking the right questions at the right time. 3. Lifeng, always setting the direction – and cycling to ttsh from home at bukit timah (madness). 4. Deborah and the boys. 5. Val the ‘hottest bod in acjc’. 6. Amanda, Mr. Bean soya and pancake addict and fellow letsbitchabout unattractive things partner. and omg not to forget yus my inspiring and newly inspired clinic mate and hanis whom i really did forget to take pics with because they were in the other car all the time.

Always thought our CG makes a perfect candidate for a United Colours of Benetton ad.

Ok ppl. its 5 weeks to end of posting test. Time to study like theres no tomorrow.

Everyone get together at Peis 21st

We come a long way since year 1 and everytime we get together as an OG, even though we been at different hospitals, still feels the same old.

Peis

everythings just fine fine fine fine fine… woooooo   (remix of the week)

All I want is the wind in my hair.

12 09 2008

I feel these four walls closing in
Face up against the glass
I’m looking out, hmmm
Is this my life I’m wondering
It happened so fast
How do I turn this thing around
Is this the bed I chose to make
It’s greener pastures I’m thinking about
Hmm, wide open spaces far away
All I want is the wind in my hair
To face the fear but not feel scared
Ooh, wild horses I wanna be like you
Throwing caution to the wind, I’ll run free too
Wish I could recklessly love like I’m longing to
I wanna run with the wild horses
Run with the wild horses, oh
whoahh Yeah, oh oh, ye-yeah
I see the girl I wanna be
Riding bare-back, care-free
Along the shore
If only that someone was me
Jumping head-first, head-long
Without a thought
To act and damn the consequences
How I wish it could be that easy
But fear surrounds me like a fence
I wanna break free
All I want is the wind in my hair
To face the fear, but not feel scared
Oooh, wild horses I wanna be like you
Throwing caution to the wind, I’ll run free too
Wish I could recklessly love like I’m longing to
I wanna run with the wild horses
Run with the wild horses, oh
I wanna run too
Oooh oh oh oh
Recklessly abandoning myself before you
I wanna open up my heart
Tell you how I feel, ooh ooh
Oooh, wild horses I wanna be like you
Throwing caution to the wind, I’ll run free too
Wish I could recklessly love like I’m longing to
I wanna run with the wild horses
Run with the wild horses
Run with the wild horses

I realise that we do alot of things because we fear the consequence

But all I want is wind in my hair, face the fear but not feel scared.

Nights to remember. I’d never be caught singing karaoke especially on a weekend. Well, a quieter Saturday night than usual. I think. No dressing up no nothing. Just us doing our favourite songs over sparkling mango juice. :)

..bon voyage to Rohai leaving for California tonight. Trust he’ll be back.

Wardrobe 2008 @ Zouk

24 08 2008

The annual Zouk fashion event is here and this time it was huger than I thought with huge sponsors and all, even with Fashion TV as official media. Modelled for the wardrobling segment where budding local designers are given a showcasing platform for their creations.

Got to meet lots of familiar faces back from the old RJ days and fresh pretty new ones alike. After a long hard day of runway choreographing, hair and face touchups and waiting, must say it paid off pretty well coz I had fun eventually.

Before the show….

The gorgeous Nat Bala and Nat Ngoi for the youngest designers there. (top left) Plus other random camwhoring while waiting for the rest of the models to be done with hair and makeup.

Before the show...

and Maxine with her japanese baseball get up. love it. without the belt, she might as well be slicing sashimi.

Official Photographers!

and something from the official photographers, I guess the other guys were changing still!

Then came the show itself…where im quite unidentifiable under “avant-garde” bold make up which was pretty scary.

AbsolutITCZY : Isaac’s 21st

Post surgery breather week break began with Isaac’s 21st birthday party!

Happy Birthday Isaac!

Fun in the colours of Absolut – which I felt was just about almost every solid colour. Loved how it was super chillout over the food and drinks in the pretty pretty birthday-esque decor. Just like any other landmark 21st birthday, in the corner laid almost a mountain of presents which im pretty sure he’s gonna have lots of fun opening. Party and afterparty…

Isaac\'s Birthday

Turning 21. overrated. perhaps.

But i guess alot of things feel different once you hit that mark. Somehow I tend to look at things in a different way and things that used to bother me, don’t really do anymore.

Randomness

And in other random news, a friend showed me this pretty cool site that transforms your pics to random crap to laugh over. Sorry if im slow with finding the site or something, but the results really amuse me.

Paris

Billboard

and the best EVER performance of Bleeding Love in my opinion, was surprisingly at the MTV asia awards….all the experimental runs and octave climbs!

Let your hair down in the Olympic spirit

12 08 2008

Lets just say i’ve had quite a rollercoaster of an 8 week surgery posting period – in every aspect. I don’t think I have ever had such a period in my life thus far. Everything seemed fresh and experiences piled on. Be it med school or out of med school. Learnt so much more about how a hospital runs and so much more about myself at the same time. Never thought i’d put a scalpel on someone’s neck so soon, but i did it. Wish some things didn’t happen the way they did but then you realise u gotta smile coz you deserve to.

Everyone needs a break, and I think I quite deserve one now.

________________________________________________________________________

It’s great to see everyone once in awhile and realise all the common things we love and hate and fascinate about. Themes – we love it.

Sporty boys

Soccer, Basketball (ignore jeans), Rugby

Not to say were totally out of character (sniggers) but yes I think everyone went back to their roots – zul’s LOVE for rugby since the Raffles days, I love hiphop hence the whole bball jersey look, and Rohai……. lives in front of a soccer field.

Bored, wheres the goal?

Caption : Watching a soccer match, and there hasn’t been a goal.

Well everything turned out absolutely crazy beyond words…. and it’s times like these that complete weekends.

Olympics

And it was back to school …. for one last week of posting, and Rohai perhaps was preempting he was going to miss the NUS campus when he leaves for UC Irvine like tomorrow. (actually next week). Therefore, we camwhored.

NUS

Never forget those Kodak moments.

8 08 2008

Somehow when i’m pretty bloody free, like now that surgery end of posting test etc. is over, I tend to plough through my mac and find some kodak moment pics that never get anywhere….usually taken by official photographers. haha

playground

mermaids.

endless laughter at the Botanical Gardens..not sure about what though.

kodak moments not to be forgotten indeed…

TheMinistersWife. Kenneth’s 21st. Splashing Afterparty.

6 07 2008

Finally, it was the weekend where The Minister’s Wife was finally going to be staged at the Drama Center Black Box and even though i’ve not been able to catch up much with the progress of the production due to surgery posting commitments, somehow i felt the excitement perhaps because im pretty close to a couple of the cast and crew and popping by once in awhile.

Minister\'s Wife

The Minister’s Wife

Thats Akesh, who found the Jco donut poster of him. Ha. and other random pics.

After the show, it was a quick migrate to Kenneth’s 21st at Siloso beach where the food was amazing not to mention drinks. It was really really great to see all the RI boys from 4D all over again.

4d

RI 4D ‘03 Reunion

Almost everyone whom i wished to see from the RI days, was there lounging on the sand. It was really nostalgia and smiles all about as we realised we all never really did change a single bit inside despite being 7 years older.

21st Bday bash

Random shots from the beach party

then of course Lucien the London boy (who talks about himself being goodlooking ALOT when hes not sober) came along…..

Lucien

…….with Maxine and Smriti who’s leaving the next day.

And then the splashing afterparty began at Del mar. gosh. had so much fun. Pity all the chlorine bleached expensive dresses.

Del Mar splashing

Sem1.

5 07 2008

The semester has began but the summer is still here. NUH’s surgery programme is awesome and I can finally say im getting into the groove of clinicals and getting used to OT scrubbing and night calls etc. Its hard work though. real hard work. Brains gotta work like a sponge. Well evidence of hard work, Val and Deborah hard at “work” copying blood test and CT scan results and what nots from case files for the surgery case report which is like a whole damn 15% of the grade, which is why its gotta be close to perfect, i hope.

hard at work

Recess

Seems like the weeks really fly by, its been 2 weeks and the weekends seem closer to each other especially when u’ve got mid week activities to keep u going. RECESS!! :)

RnB has always been reminiscent of JC parties its been awhile. Tammi looks absolutely fab in just a convent uniform with a belt to accentuate her hips.

Recess

Dell’s pineapple festivities

Yes. Dell’s 21 and a majority of last weekend was spent celebrating it with her in the spirit of her favourite fruit the pineapple. Check out how sweet she looks with James. Found out from trivia talk that his brother, Simon Burnett olympic swimmer, pushed up on Rihanna in a vip event recently. dammit. The thunderstorms at the Botanical Gardens did not dampen anything coz we went under the gazebo to blow the pineapple not-cake.

and just the old school homie hoes….

Maxine looks a tad bit preggers but its just the wind blowing the dress up… Smriti is missing like Carmen Sandiego and Hadri’s at rehearsals for the Minister’s Wife (can’t wait to watch it tomorrow) and Zul’s MIA..

Therefore, took the following night to chill with Smrit on Dell’s real birthday. Smriti and Arab street always smells like the Old times… and I swear the arab Coca Cola tastes different though everyone begged to differ.

The race to chill….

17 06 2008

Just one week left of the summer break, the race is on to chill…

  • Cafe del Mar

delmar

Caught up with the bundle of joy Zhuping and Jevon my von-ster on a day out at Siloso Beach, Sentosa…Whipped out the tanning lotion and spent all afternoon soaking the Sun and bumping into various people along the way while mingling in the pool. Sometimes I wished cafe del mar would play more familiar tunes that people could sing along to when they’re bored on the sand. haha. Not that i don’t love the house, just that it could have been a little more fun. Jevon’s leaving for Sweden for a couple of months sadly but Zhups is here to stay!

And..the Destiny’s Child covershots….

DC

Thanks Jevon for the lovely lovely day :) and of course Zhups… but you gonna be lovin me long time coz you gonna start your term at NUS, at the other side of the Kent Ridge (though i’d be at a random hospital).

  • Weekend catchups with the homies

And as usual the weekend is an excuse to party all the time… especially so in the holidays. Lets see, Melbaby my new friend whom i was introduced 5 times to in the course of the night. It’s pretty nice to see like almost everyone I would love to see. Rohai is the ultimate pose reproducer if theres such a term. ..and Isaac’s quite gone. Eddee is beaming coz hes the new Siloso Hotbod Hunk winner. ok enough pic commentaries. Sum it all up, music was award winning

Weekend

Song of the night, and now…of the week…..When I Grow Up by the Pussycat Dolls (Raplhi Rosario remix). It’s the SHIT…it’s been totally on repeat since forever.

  • Father’s Day at the Zoo (its a baby sister kinda place )

Well… the wonderful thing about the zoo is that everytime u go there, perhaps a few years older or something, it becomes a new experience.

Woke up early on Sunday to visit the zoo with the family and gosh..carry my baby sister around the hugeass 33 hectare or something zoo. Since we probably have one of the best zoo’s in the world, we might as well appreciate it. As i trailed the place, it pretty amazes me how the animals are pretty not hostile towards you even if u come centimetres to their face. I guess theyre trained being an open concept zoo and all..i mean i wouldn’t appreciate to see animals like in cages. Despite being an open concept zoo where they are roaming in artificially natural enclosures mimicking their natural habitat closely, sadly they are still animals in captivity and they have been influenced by humans in one way or another. Ok just exercising some photography skills, i must say the Tigers are pretty…

Zoo

…and my now 19month old sister Sumayya (on the Ben and Jerry cow)

who is a parrot and says out every animal name she sees and we mention.

… now thats her in a vid I caught – Madonna’s 4minutes is her absolute favourite song (she calls it the Tic Toc song though ha) and the only song to elicit that kind of reaction from her.

Summer Break Begins

9 06 2008

Three week long summer break begins, actually a week has passed but it still feels like it has just began. Good news of surgery posting, going to NUH and TTSH for medicine. I must say the Dean’s office has been rather kind to me and my CG for the last few ‘random’ postings. I’ve heard really good stuff about TTSH medicine, and i guess NUH would be one of the better surgical places. Nothing against places like AH, apart from geographical location haha. Just that im the kind of person who needs to see lots and lots of cases for the impetus to read the book up and small hospitals just dont kick it. Which reminds me..gotta get my surgery books real soon…

Doing just nothing is the agenda the next two weeks or so…caught up with a couple of pals at a party – Eddee and his pals and bumped into Dex! :)

Eddee and his pals and Dex

And the Rafflesians, more specifically GEP-ers (Gifted Education Programme) soccer boys who popped up along the way, Changwen and WeiFan and Tim (he’s just there all the time). Then later rafflesians Unite in a group shot…

Rafflesians Unite

Its amazing how long we’ve come since the JC days – sometimes i miss just wearing the uniform coz u don’t have to think about what to wear to school and being judged for what u wear. Just sprinkle on some scent and ure good to go haha. Tim’s leaving for Cambridge, Rohai’s leaving for the OC, yes the OC in california wonder how im gonna deal with the hoe-drain. Remember guys (if ure reading), please come back and be stayers not quitters. haha.

Well staying home alot, I managed to finally upgrade to Leopard OS X for my macbook. I know kinda slow, but I resisted any form of piracy and my brother brought back an original copy from the UK. Well, I had nothing to complain about in the last OS so Leopard to me is just everything prettier and Time Machine i don’t use and I don’t really see the 300+ MORE features it boasts over Tiger maybe because they’re subtle and contribute to the overall feel of the OS. Well.. Photobooth my favourite haha. Had a 4shot feature and some background change effect.

Photobooth 4 shot feature

and my fav 2 headed shot and me superimposed on the rollercoaster…. it kinda sucks because u need a clean background like a plain wall or something (works like a green screen effect) but my room conditions caused me to be blended into the rollercoaster quite abit. haha

Rollercoaster

ok. that was a long one..off to soak in the summer sun.

oh yes and I finally received the postcard from Shuming in Vietnam… :) Beautiful. Always thought postcards were too oldschool with the advent of emails and facebook. However, when u actually get one through the snail mail, u really appreciate it.

Postcard

Catching up @ the NewUrbanMale Anniversary Party

26 05 2008

NUM’s anniversary and it was such a full night of catching up with people ive never caught up with in a long long time, like Changwen and of course Maxine who’s not been in town…and boy was it a blast – beginning from the migration to the Boiler Room vip area where all things began to fall into place pretty nicely. Thanks to Max for all those wonderful Canadian friends we made. haha.

NUM

Max is back!

25 05 2008

maxine

Maxine is back from Wisconsin, Madison with all the hillarious stories, an awesome new Rihanna-esque hair cut, and a lowered heat tolerance. Who can blame her its really damn scorching these days its unbelievable. Nothing better than chilling at Liat Starbucks which is where we last chilled before she left too….sadly she had to go join the gurlfriends so she didnt join us after…

just one really lovely response from her….

Get Tied Down – Desmond Wong’s 2*th/st/nd/rd party

4 05 2008

On a really nice rooftop of the Sandalwood in the east side of Singapore we celebrated Desmond’s birthday in the company of the breathtaking 360 skyline view and cool winds of the night. Theme was “ Get Tie’d Down (ties, bowties, scarves, etc), no BDSM pls!” quoting what Desmond wrote on the Facebook event page. As the waiters took care of the yummy finger food and drinks, i had Julius himself to feed me his yummy chocs! ..okay here’s him doing it to Pierre instead…

Julius

and of course Alvin Lee the official photographer for the night …

Alvin

and later after “teasing” me that he wasn’t able to come for whatever reason it was, Derrick walked in fashionably late with Alaric Daryl and John…okay since everyone was everywhere…heres just a mashup of snaps…

Collage

and Desmond looking like he’s wishing really hard for his Birthday Wish…. think he really looks pretty quite into it – quite funny, makes u wonder what was on his mind.

Cruisin’ in a Limo to the Madonna Hard Candy launch

1 05 2008

Intro

Props to MTV and Ripplevox, Madonna’s launch Hard Candy launch was one of the most memorable ever.

Arrival at Ritz Carlton for a pre party segment where we just lounged around and had our every single needed catered to, then a limousine that brought the 8 of us to the party in a convoluted route to prolong the surrealism of being in Madonna’s MUSIC video – only Ali G was missing from the scene. Actually the driver could pass off as him. Well at least MTV crew were in the limo to get some footage for a segment . Here’s some shots from the glamorous journey of the migration from the hotel to the party in the stretch limo….

Limo

Upon a red carpet like arrival at the venue, we migrated to the vip area where sumptuous finger foods and free flow of drinks were served and Madonna was in the air… but sadly not there. haha.

Anyhow the muay thai went on while we mingled upstars and started moving when our favourite new Hard Candy tracks came on and other Madge classics too not to be forgotten. Here’s some snapshots… fab meet of the night who was also in the limo with us, Debbie Tjong (top left). Loved her from the start. As you can see Rohai’s MTV interview where he thought he was screaming into the mic haha…

Hard Candy

CSFC – Surgery

1 05 2008

Well, the CSFC or Clinical Skills Foundation Course has kicked in for me in SGH to mark the transition of the pre clinical years of medical school to the clinical years…… pretty much where what ive been reading the past 2 years or so goes into a real life patient. The weird thing is its supposed to be a year 2 programme but we’re in such a different realm that it feels like year 3 already. anyhow i have rightfully earned that feeling after attaining a more than decent grade for promotion in the MBBS exam. :)

Clueless about everything, i mean not totally but still…..the initial dive into clinics took quite alot of getting used to …1. no more havaiianas on while solving a medical problem. 2. everything now is pretty much for real

What still remains the same though is …. absorbing new information like a sponge and. of course. the 4 letter word all med students love – exam.

Well the surgery posting’s gonna be over soon. Its quite amazing how time really flies when ure in the wards…. its interesting because at the end of the day ure dead tired, but in the middle of the day u don’t seem to be lookin forward to the end of the day. Perhaps because you’re too busy jumping on every single learning opportunity throughout the day and trying to register signs and symptoms….

CSFC

In the snaps : Scrubbed up and disguised, my first stitch! haha

Gabriel’s Birthday BBQ

27 04 2008

For Gabriel’s Birthday BBQ, came unfashionably too late. Despite trying to drive down there quickly, the whole 140 dollar Haagen Dazs ice cream cake that i wanted to taste was already being digested by others haha. Things i apparently missed include, Zul’s performance of Chris Brown’s With You and of course to see Hadri and Lionel because I haven’t seen them in quite awhile. Oh well, still enjoyed the ambience of the BBQ pits at the Summit which really brings back good memories of the old JC days where we would just bbq and chill there with the whole gang and take stupid photos – Smriti and Sarah Nadia like full hoe strength that we don’t quite get anymore.

Gabe\'s Bday

Keluar Baris / Tanjong Rhu Wrap Party

27 04 2008

Boo Junfeng hosts another fabulous wrap party to wrap us the Tanjong Rhu production starring Nick Shen, Yeo Yann Yann (who did not manage to turn up) and Pierre Goh and a few other familiar faces…. and to celebrate the success of Keluar Baris.

The party began with some pretty nice food and drinks PLUS Cold Rock Ice cream and culminated in a screening of Keluar Baris – which bagged three Silver Screen Awards for Best Director (Boo Junfeng), Best Cinematography and Best Film. After which, Junfeng’s new one, Tanjong Rhu was screened for the very first time. Now that one was my favourite of the two although Junfeng said that he has been getting very mixed opinions with regards to people’s preferences. Well its all about self relation to the film i guess, and with Keluar Baris, i reckon only 6 months of the SAF before disrupting for medical studies just wasn’t quite enough…

…and lastly the candid pic we took that looks like a Sugababes cover, the white (not really though), the Black and the Asian-ish.

Mariah’s E=MC2 launch and Melbaby’s Birthday

13 04 2008

The evening began with a celebration with Melbaby on his 27th birthday, not so much a baby anymore as Alex pointed out he needed a new nickname. Yummy cheese platters and drinks, talking alot of rubbish and a really yummy cake from Canele thanks to Ash.

Melbaby, Alex and KS (i think)

Afterwards, it was nothing but fun at the E=mc2 Mariah album launch with my homiehoes Rohai Zul Shu Tim etc. Nicole and Al came along surprisingly, and Bryan Mark Teo too! As for the event – not-so-impersonating Mariah impersonators and Berdley Choong was the geek from the Touch My Body video! that was pretty good. haha.

R21 Singapore Int’l Film Fest Party then migrating to a Fabulous afterparty

7 04 2008

Sunday was a sleep in day till I had to head to out to catch a play that a few of my close pals and ex RJC schoolmates have been working pretty hard on. Turned out to be one of the most random but amazing sundays, migrating from the play to a party then to an after party, migrate.

So it was the Loof again for the R21 Singapore International Film Festival party- not quite a hit with me and my hoes – not getting personal but we have a few reasons to B-list that place. haha. Loved it anyway – we bumped into Eunice Olsen once again who was talking to us while her Motorola RAZR ad (with the snake) billboard was in full view from the Loof rooftop. Quite hillarious.

Afterwards, joined JeffreyJames, his crazyBEAUTIFUL sister, Kimmy and the just as beautiful PLUS crazyFABULOUS Cass, to continue the fun we left off when we parted at cityhall earlier in the day….

The continuation at night :

The First row in the collage is devoted to Kim and Cass – them fab/gorgeous chicks (who could sing effortlessly to Touch My Body on the dancefloor – conferring them immediate ‘BFF status’ by rohai – call me every 5 minutes as he would say)

party

Sadly, they’d be leaving Singapore the next day but we’re definitely lookin forward to them being back in September. Luckily… Cass is here to stay!

Benlympics : Ben’s Birthday @ Raffles Hotel

5 04 2008

The 6th of April marks Ben’s Birthday

It was a celebration at the Raffles Hotel in a cosy suite and everyone began to unwind in the ambience over sumptuous pastries from the house and drinks. Came pretty early for the party and bumped into Jane who kinda broke the ice (coincidentally as Break the Ice was blasting on the Bose)…..

The theme was Benlympics which meant that you’re supposed to come dressed as your favourite sports star or something but some people came from Fashion Festival shows (an excuse) and could not comply with the theme. Anyhow, heres some snapshots of the birthday boy among other things…..
